I loved the theme. It was fun incorporating it into the game idea

Really like what you're doing with the aesthetics here. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be much to the gameplay, as every direction led to a wall of some sort. I've read your replies below, so I understand you've got more content coming out. Good luck with that, and keep up the good work!
Thank you for playing! I really appreciate the feedback and encouragement, it means a ton. The next update will be released when the voting ends for this game jam in about 17 hours. It fixes all of this and adds all the content I wanted to add in but didn't get to. The game is fully playable in this next update v1.2.
Liked the story, the music and the animations were good even with the 1-bit limitation. The rooms were big and I got lost very easily, at some point I died without really knowing what I did. I only played a bit so I probably missed a lot of stuff, but I liked what I played.
I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you for playing! The full version of the game (v1.2) will be up as soon as voting ends for the game jam. Here are the features that have been added:
1. Fully fleshed out story
2. Sharks added
3. Boss fight (final battle)
4. Cutscenes with 8-bit speech and all are skippable
5. General walkthrough (accessible through the pause menu
6. Fixed bugs regarding door animations, SFX timing,
6. Solved aimless exploration, rooms without purpose
I'm working on adding additional content to the game as well that will feature a new playable character, new items, new places to explore and new enemies.
i dig the premise and the musics nice (the loop is a bit short though)
there is a lot of walk/swimming around with nothing happening and a lot of it is aimless
the options menu didn't open or work
Thank you for playing The Last Cadet! The last release (v1.1) in time for the game jam still had some bugs and missing items. I apologize sincerely for the experience. I have fixed all the known bugs that would crash the game as well as missing items. No more aimless movement, I'm so sorry you had to deal with that.
v1.2 will be released on Tuesday June 22nd right after voting ends at 5:00 am (PST). It is ready and can be played until the end as intended. I really appreciate you playing the game and hope you play the v1.2 when it releases on Tuesday June 22nd. If you do in fact play it, I'd love to hear your thoughts on what you liked and didn't like as well as some recommended changes. I'm still going to be adding to content to this game so any feedback is greatly welcomed.
The first update has just been released. The only bugs left I could find are in the boss battle at the very end of the game and the Sharks AI. I am working on fixing this as I type this. The next version should be ready within the next 3 hours just in time before the 24 hour grace period ends. I want to thank everyone looking at my game. It's my first game to see release so I've been very happy with all the feedback received. It helps me make better content in the future.
this version had so many bugs but they have all been fixed in the newest version, 1.1. This new version will be uploaded shortly now in the next 30 minutes. After that, one more update will come prior to the 24 hour grace period ending at 5:00 am 6/16/21, which will fix the remaining bits of content I had to cut out to keep the game in working order.
