How does your game fit the theme?
Hypoxia Havoc fits the theme of the jam by the main mechanic being centered around the player's need and use of Oxygen. During Gameplay, the player will have 45 seconds until their oxygen runs out. Throughout the game they must defeat enemies in order to gain canisters to refill this oxygen. Only issue is that after the player breathes in the oxygen some of the oxygen brands have different abilities and effects. These effects can be stacked on the player can even be used to enhance their gun (however then the player doesn't get the oxygen). All of this together makes the player focus on their in-game breathing which we believe makes this a fun and interesting way to incorporate the theme.

Some feedback sound or effect would be nice when you collect an oxygen tank.
Also since there were two weapons in the game, I wished I could have tried the pistol in the arena as well. Shotgun felt like it had maybe little bit too much spread or not enough projectiles. Anyways felt quite hard to hit targets with that.
Theme and the oxygen mechanic of the game reminded me a bit of the movie In Time. Also cool effects tied to the oxygens. I also liked the tutorial giving you a little story about the world. Ambitious project for a game jam. Good job!
All the sound effects were implemented late into the night before the game jam looool. We tried our best to get all the sounds and music in but were crunching quite hard. As for the arena weapon. You actually get one of the two weapon every time you go through a level. So you might get a shotgun or a pistol.
I’m glad you enjoyed the oxygen mechanics! We thought it was something that would make our game really stand out. We had a lot more ideas for worldbuilding through it that didn’t make it into the game but are still very proud of it.
Loved the setting, cool premise and lovely tutorial. The crosshair might be a little off to the right. A bit too many enemies spawn after a while and killing them all seems impossible.
I’m glad you liked the setting and premise my team was really proud of it. Due to the time limit of the game a lot of implementations and tweaks were rushed so yeah. I hope you still enjoyed it! :]
really cool idea, but mouse sens was so high and no slider so i couldnt even really shoot anybody. also i ran outta oxygen and then went to next level and was invincible
I’m sorry to hear that. We had plans to add a sensitivity slider but we ran out of time sadly. Also that is an interesting bug. I hope it didn’t ruin the gameplay experience too much. Thanks for playing the game and thanks for leaving a comment!
