Ranked from 9 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

Themes
Initially I used the theme "They Are 4096" but I couldn't complete the game in time. Where would an army of 4096 robots against the protagonist.
I also used the "Unconventional Weapon" theme where the protagonist uses bamboo and shurikens to defeat steel machines.

Tools
The tools used were Blender, Gimp and Unity version 2018. The only limitation found was when exporting the WEBGL file that is causing errors and it will not be possible to post before the deadline.

Lessons
Yes, I learned to produce less content while creating. 4 more enemies were produced that were not implemented in time. Videos of the entire GameJam progression will be posted as rendering is completed.

I just tried out Robot Killer, and I really enjoyed the concept of using bamboo and shurikens against the robots! The mix of weapons kept the gameplay engaging. I noticed the improvements you mentioned, and the game feels smoother now. However, the challenge curve still feels steep at times, especially with the shuriken speed.  Keep up the great work!

Developer

In the end I ended up liking the game too. In the future it is possible that I will remake the game. I will add a story and work more carefully on the graphics.

I'm afraid for this ninja that the robots are really too strong

I'm afraid the resolution is way above 64x64, which is visible in the title as well as some UI elements in the game. It is obvious you tried to conform to the rule by having the game pixelated, but it's not consistent.

I seem to always instantly get hit by the enemies when I try to fight them with my staff because they just shoot something at me before I can approach them but too close to jump over, even if I manage to hit them first. The shuriken on the other hand only move as fast as I do, so they don't help much in that regard.

The game looks very blurry.  I suggest changing filtering to nearest to avoid the smoothing blur and get a more crisp image which probably is more desired in this format, though that may be a matter of preference.

Either way, getting a jam game finished and published in time still is an achievement to be proud of and build up on, so keep going!

Thanks for the comment.

I took it into consideration in the update I just made. I made corrections to the scenario because I did not use the traditional method of creating sprites, but a technique close to what was used in the classic Donkey Kong Country. I downgraded the resolution and now it is more acceptable.

It really was a challenge, this was my first JAM and I realized how much I can improve with these championships. Above all, it's really fun.

The game is still not 100% but I've improved the mechanics a little and it's easier to pass the 5 stages. If you want to try, here's the challenge.

That start text didnt look very 64x64 ;)

Developer

I completely agree!

I have also corrected the text. I only realized it when I had already posted the game. I tried to do the best I could with Unity and my current knowledge to achieve this low-resolution result. But my opinion is that Unity is not so good at working with lower resolutions. In this case, it is better to use languages such as Java, C++, etc., as it is easier to apply a scale to the resolution.

I just updated the game and corrected the fonts.

Thanks for the comment!

Just played Robot Killer! The game was overall fun, I loved the mix up of using the shuriken and the staff to fight the enemys! I would have loved to see different weapon types to maybe encourage more gameplay! I also seem to had ran into a bug where I had unlimited shuriken and amount displayed as -1.

Developer(+1)

This was the first BUG I fixed, the HUD had several problems. He also wasn't keeping score in the transition between phases. But now the problem has been fixed as well as several others.

It's still far from a real Gameplay, but it's possible to waste a few minutes trying to complete it.
