I like that I found a survival game in here. I liked it, but I want to point out that it was a bit confusing to get the game for a second. I know there is no such time to add a tutorial, for example, but that would be cool. Anyways, I like the art, it remembers me "Realm of the mad god", but there is room for improvement and it's barely understandable that there is a day & night cycle, It would be cooler if maybe the color pallet changed for each cycle. And maybe for a jam, it's risky to do a survival game, but I think if you keep working more on it, there are more you can take out of this idea and improve the game. I find impressive that you made a crafting system and an inventory. Congrats.

Thanks it means a lot. Yeah I realized about halfway through that making a survival game might not have been the best choice lol.

The art style has a cute quirkiness to it, but the mechanics need more thought put to them. Took me a while to figure out I need to long-press on the ore to break it (also thought that was a berry bush xD).
Chickens have way too much health lol
Bug encountered: crafted the axe but it just appeared in the middle of the screen and was not equipped.
And yeah - gotta have music !

Thanks, yeah I realized I should have made the stones and bushes more unique. I think the axe was in the middle of the screen because of a problem with the resolution.

Good base code for the start of something,  it's not tough to imagine the possibilities here.  I agree, some sound (feedback) from the game when doing things like crafting would have gone a long way.  I know most people skip on music/sound in game jams because it's time-consuming to create, but its better to throw in some free licensed sounds/music than not have any at all.  The atmosphere in this game in particular was really important and would have done a great deal for the game.

As a programmer myself however, I know what you did here took effort, things like inventory systems and crafting can be far more complex than the results suggest, so from one developer to another, I tip my hat.

Developer

Thank you, that means a lot.

Pretty cute little aesthetic. It's cool that you added a crafting system but it was a tiny bit on the confusing side. It could do with some more sounds as well but other than it was pretty cool

Thanks. I’m sorry to hear that the crafting system was a bit too complex. It may be simplified in the future, along with the addition of more sounds.

Sounds great!

Developer

Sorry to bother you, but could you describe exactly what about the crafting system was causing you issues. Thanks.

The crafting system was too complex for me, so i just walked aimlessly gathering materials until i got bored, sorry, the chicken resisted too many hits and it wasn't satisfactory to kill.

Developer

I’m sorry to hear that. If you could provide more  information about what specifically about the crafting system was too complex, it could be simplified in a future update, along with making the chickens weaker.
