It's a bit rough around the edges, but I like the idea and general gameplay so this could make a great game if you keep at it!
Thanks for this great game, I was a bit confused in the beginning when all my citizens left. However, after a few minutes I got how the game works and it was really fun.
I wasn't really enjoying this at the start but it definitely picked up once I reached batteries and beyond. Initial progression is slow and you have to babysit the lightning rods because they break down, so you can't leave it idle. Also, unlocking a new building for $xxx then needing another $xxx to buy the first one is frustrating. Once I had multiple buildings and could optimise the layouts, the game became a lot more engaging.
I ran out of upgrades and I'm wondering if that's the end of the game? I tried to see if there was a max population but only reached 450 or so before balancing Happiness became an issue. At that point I also wanted more details on the mechanics of different buildings. For example, do the Tesla Towers only redirect to two lightning rods? Can they chain together? Is there any reason to have multiple Weather Centers, or even keep one once you have the info it provides?
I think if you continue development, having more complexity to the building placement mechanics would be cool, such as bonuses for chaining building types, proximity bonuses e.g. batteries store extra if next to Weather Centers. Also, I think upgrades that increase production/income are more "fun" than ones that reduce building costs, generally speaking. Eventually, an auto-repair upgrade, or the ability to "stockpile" future repair actions, would be great too.
Yes you reached the end circa 250 population. I didn't even think you could reach 450 ! With the happiness constantly going down I guess.
Your guesses are all right, Tesla Towers only redirect on two lightning rods, I planned to make chains but lacked time. No reason to have multiple Weather Centers, you could delete the one you had (but this was a programming error, I wanted to make it so you need to keep one to see informations on storms).
Proximity bonuses are a cool idea ! I have still many ideas for expanding the game, and your suggestions are welcomed :)
All in all, thanks for taking the time to develop your thoughts on this game, this means a lot
Balance was pretty rough, and I kept running into bugs where numbers would overflow and the amount of time to complete construction was increasing rather than decreasing.
I was pretty unimpressed at first, and was going to give up on it, but I stuck through until I got batteries and did find myself having some fun as I progressed up to the weather building and related upgrades.
The overflow bug hit me again, and the amount of time to the next storm started going up rather than counting down. Sort of a bummer. :(
This game isn't a revolutionary, genre-defining achievement, but if the bugs were fixed, it'd be a solid experience that's worth playing.
Thank you for your kind words !
I fixed the bug overflow thing, thanks for pointing it out
Hey, thanks for fixing the bugs. Last time I played through I was pretty much at the end, but it was nice getting through it all. Good job on your project, it's a cute game and you did a fine job. I updated my rating to bump up some of the scores.
Was pretty fun but the balance was not great IMO, especially with the game ending way faster than i thought.
Thanks ! Sadly, I didn't have time to add more buildings, so yeah it finishes abruptly
