Had some internet issues during the jam, so I wrote my jam journal as a postmortem type thing after the rating period:

Originally i was going to go fully orchestral on this jam, using Musescore 4 to write and produce the music using their MuseSounds soundset.
The initial stuff in Musescore i based the Boss tune on:

But I got a bit un-motivated to work on that, so midway during the jam, I did a 180° sound wise and started messing around with some 90's rompler/keyboard sounds, and that eventually turned in to this boss track for the final fight against the Death Knight and their goons.
Sound/effects used:
Stock Reaper and Tukan Studios plugins for mixing and mastering
Roland JV 1080 and Korg Triton for almost everything except the vocals, guitars, basses and drums.
ISW Shreddage Serpent for Electric Guitar and Shreddage Abyss for Electric Bass
Bogren Digital Krimh Drums Free for the Drumkit.
The Vocal parts i recorded myself (still a learning to record/produce vocals, so might be a tad shit in places😁)

This is awesome man! The bass sound effects are VST? That's fascinating, I totally thought you recorded that. I would so love to play a game with this song as the intro or something lol.
The ISW Shreddage guitars and basses are good stuff! Another all around nice FREE electric bass instruments is the AmpleSound Bass P lite
Probably if the bass parts on the track were soloed, it would sound pretty fake since i didn't change articulations at all and just played everything in with a Sustain articulation 😂
I love the sound and concept, reminds me of Mr bungle but more modern, also mix sound great! really cool job!
Not sure how i haven't heard any Mr Bungle tracks before, right up my alley type of stuff 😍

Such a silly Halloween sound, but then with such somber lyrics. Silly, and also very heavy at the same time, like lamenting the finality of death while also being very silly... something about that combo strikes me as very Finnish lol.

Yea, the combo of not so upbeat lyrics over a upbeat song is a pretty stable thing in a lot of Finnish pop music, especially older stuff.
This track is pretty good example of that, with the music being pretty upbeat/cheery, but the lyrics are about a young person who wishes to be a race car driver, but keeps driving recklessly and crashing multiple times and somehow surviving, but in the end of the song collides with a truck on the freeway for the final time (either dies or gets paralyzed after that, the wording is a bit ambiguous).

Funny that you did some dance two game jams in a row XD. its very Banjo-Kazooie-esque and very halloween, spooktober is pleased, very unique to go for actual lyrical song, like this one very much.
Tried doing vocal stuff but couldn't come up with any lyrics during the last Impressions jam, so stubbornly tried again for this and managed to write something 😁.
Also found out during this, that writing ideas down with a pen and paper seems to help a lot in getting the brain to work than just using notes app on the PC 😅.
This track brings out some serious Halloween vibes!
