(I am now in a rush to test as many games as possible to help, so please do not mind the cursory reviewing style.)
I find both the game page and game introduction well written! Attention was given to the atmosphere/setting.
instructions: misspelling forth for fourth
controls are QWERTY-only instead of layout-independent
enemies and animations (and the magician too) are super cute!! :) And the sword-wielding reminds me of Zelda
a bit hard to master what powers/skills you currently have, as this is quite a complex combination; although you get an idea visually, so not totally lost
can attack through walls; planned?
interactive tutorial/indications! (when opening first chest) Great.
second room: enemies have vision through some material (black tiles) but not walls, great! :)
Escape key quits; I think making it pause, or have some pause key, would have been nice. (mere detail!)
cool clone power
green cross for healing effect; a lot of nice visual special effects, actually
hard to avoid taking hits; maybe some shield-like mechanic would help? Or is it purposeful so that we clear the room as fast and efficiently as possible?
lost at about the fourth room; hard to survive (… especially with my AZERTY controls XD)
Conclusion:
Very cute game, full of careful details! (graphics AND story) A bit hard to master the power/spell system (I had trouble remembering when playing, to be honest… :S), but in a context where you have more time to learn, introducing the different dice one after the other could well do the trick.
Interpretation of the theme somewhat classic, although you took care to deal with the randomness as resulting in COMBINATIONS, which is more interesting.
Good gameplay too, although the game looks a bit hard for the moment. Should be easy to balance.
Very promising, especially for a first game jam. :) I am really fond of your cute style, I would have rather cuddled the enemies than stabbed them. XD
Thank you very much for such a thoughtful and detailed review! I'm glad you enjoyed playing, I've definitely learned a lot for next time :D
This was good for 2 days of solo work, with lots of different attack and weapon types implemented in a short amount of time. I liked your approach to how the dice were used and upgraded, its a good mechanic. I think the things I most wished the game had the most while I was playing were some sound effects/music and some visual indication of when you get hit. But good job overall :)
Thank you for your kind feedback, as expected I very much ran out of time at the end and didn't get a chance to add many effects or audio :P
Very neat concept. I would love to see this elaborated on and polished a bit more but I think it definitely has a nice base!
Thank you very much, this was my first jam so it's nice to recieve such kind feedback!
I love it
