How does your game fit the theme?
The "player character" is a six sided die viewed from above. When it moves from one field to the next, it rolles over, revealing different sides with symboles on them.

Interesting concept with potential! It would be fun to throw a dice and get a random chess piece.
Great effort! I gave this a couple of tries to figure it out.
I don't really see how the dice fit in. I read the page and what the intended goal is, but the boards don't align with any dice that I'm familiar with.
I also couldn't get past the 4th puzzle. Once I got the rook piece to the right side, moving down converts the piece to a pawn, but it can only move up reverting it back to a rook. I saw no way to change the piece at all with the way the player dice works.
It's a great effort, especially for a single dev when you're learning a new tool. I'd suggest sticking with it and improving your skills. The next time I'm sure it will only be a much better game!
Thank you for the feedback. I hope I'll be better at this next year. As for the dice theme, the chess piece is supposed to be the die, but I totally get that it isn't obvious. I actually wanted to animate it so that you can see the die rolling over, but I didn't have time because I was kinda overwhelmed with making my code work. I'm pretty sure the 4th puzzle is solveable. The rook can move any number of checkered squares in any direction (up, down, left, right).
It is hard to add all the polish and everything in such a short time, and I don't think anyone is reviewing games expecting them to be perfect. I certainly am not. I'd like to see it with more time. You should continue on in the Polish Jam that is happening after this has completed!
Interesting concept! I can see how this mechanic can get super mind-bending when all six sides are different chess pieces.
Thanks for the comment! Since there are six kinds of chess pieces, it would make total sense for a die to have all six of them, but I have no idea how to account for diagonal movement. You can't roll a die diagonally after all...
