this is a pretty fun concept! it was cool to take the enemy's parts that were causing you trouble and use them to your advantage. i think if you wanted to expand on this further, some animations/sfx could really make things pop

Great system, and quite an enjoyable game! the lack of music does leave it at a 9.5/10 for me though.

Developer

Tough but fair!

Enormous fan of the parts system you made! Are the enemies all randomly generated from a pool of equipment/parts? Gameplay is a little bare right now and I think what could help it the most is a player health bar (unless there was one and I just didn't notice). Really interesting concept, would love to see more of it.

Developer

Thank you, I'm really happy with the system as well! The enemies are selected from a pools, currently two pools, the tier 1 enemies which you face at the beginning, and the tier 2 enemies that show up after 5 wins in a row. There is a player health bar, above your guy on the left side. Strange you didn't see it, was the enemy health bar visible?

Submitted

Ah, that's my bad - I thought the player wasn't visible and you were fighting two enemies since they were both facing forward, but that makes more sense now. Thanks for the explanation!

Developer

Ah, I understand. Yeah they're both facing forward to cut down on the drawing.

Some more variety in ability effects would be cool, but I like the idea! It’s pretty fun to steal someone’s ability that almost killed you last round.

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! I agree that more ability variety would really help the game a lot. Unfortunately the limited time translated into limited content. I'm pretty happy with the underlying system though, it might be fun to expand on sometime.

really cool ! i love the scavenge system, theres much variety its cool, but its still easy to find a little OP pattern

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! Not a lot of time for balancing unfortunately. Early on the game was nearly impossible, and I think I might have over corrected a bit.

Good idea, pretty gruesome, i did the same pattern for a while and got pretty far. Some audio would add alot i think.

Developer

I wasn't aiming for gruesome but somehow that feels like the highest complement I've received so far! I agree audio would be nice but unfortunately it's not my strong suit and usually doesn't make it into my game jams.

Really nice concept, some music and animations would be great!

Developer

Agreed! I originally wanted to animate everything but implementing the underlying systems took longer than anticipated.

Really neat, did get to the point that I didn't need to make any new replacements and went on a 12 win streak by following a pattern though.

Developer

Yeah, there were eventually supposed to be more enemies that got harder and harder but unfortunately I ran out of time! I'm glad you enjoyed what was there, though.
