This was fun game, reminded me of the old AddictingGames/MaxGames games. The only real issue I had was zombies would sometimes spawn right on top of me which would kill me instantly. Maybe have a range to where they only spawn if the player is not within 2 feet or something. Another minor thing was I wish the map changed between levels, whether it is a new street entirely or this one is breaking down it would have been nice to see it change a bit. I enjoyed running around and spamming the shoot button haha. Tho the bullets would not go through coins, not sure if that was intended or not but that can be fixed with layers/tags. Overall this was a great game and I even managed to win :) Great work!

Hi MrBreadMan thanks for your kind words and for the advice.   Ideally i wanted to create door opening animations for each door on the houses/fence openings so when zombies spawned it would be similar to them walking out of a door.  Which is where the spawn locations are aside from each one on the ends of each side the map.  However I haven't checked the build recently so it possible on level 2 or 3 they might not a been placed correctly I'd have to look.    But didn't know exactly how to go about doing the animated doors being that this was my first game jam and honestly I learned so much  working on this little project about spotting error messages and learning how to resolve them.  As for the coins being bullet proof yeah just a little layer error i over looked when compiling and as for the town yeah i wanted to make it more unique from scene to scene but i ran out of time due to me working on other issues with the UI and making sure the game loop reset correctly.  Thanks for playing and glad you had fun.  :).  Hopefully by the time my next game jam comes around I'll be able to better implement the features I'd like to of in this one :).

The atmosphere and sounds of the game were good. I want to make a critique. For the stability of the game, instead of collecting gold, maybe food, medicine or other items necessary for survival could be collected. In a world with zombies, no one takes their gun and hunts zombies outside for gold :) Thank you for the upload. it was fun to play.

Thanks DigitalLeonardo for your comment and for playing.  I agree with your critique and had I had the opportunity to go back and change things I would have probably switched out the coins for something with a more survival aspect such as food or water.   I look forward to continual work on learning more about game development and improving both  my skills and design.  All critique and feedback is welcome.

Thanks for the submission! Controls felt tight. I liked the zombie noises. I liked the idea of trying to collect objects to proceed to the next level, while fighting through the zombie mob. Some more polish and gameplay variety will really make this stand out.

Hi KluyaStorm thanks for your comment and I agree :) I really appreciate you and everyone who taken the time to leave a comment and suggestions :).   It's always great to hear ideas for improvements as well  as hearing what people like and in some cases dislike :) .  Thanks for the comment and yeah had i been  more experienced in game jams and had more time i would of mixed up a lot more things but in the end i spent the last 2 days focused on squashing bugs :).  About to check out your submission and hope you're doing well.

I like the idea, I would love to see something new in every level so it could feel like I wanna do more

Developer

Thanks very much for your comment and I agree I would of liked to have been able to expanded on the gameplay by adding a potential graveyard level as well as possibly some interiors to some of the houses that could double as mini-levels and maybe add a little platforming into the game.   But yeah if i had of had a little more time i would of made the levels more unique :)  and thanks for the suggestion.  :)

Good job getting out a submission! I think as a suggestion making the sounds for the zombies account for distance from the player? That way it gives player feedback if the zombies are near or far.

Also, my game is also called Last Stand lol

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comment and the suggestion :) .   I agree  that would be cool to make the sounds louder when they are nearby and lower when they are more distant :) .  I had a lot more ideas then what actually got submitted but hopefully as skills improve :) in future jams i can make more advanced games and features for game jams.   I'm about to check out your game as well awesome cover picture by the way.

Oh yeah, most definitely! I feel the same actually. We all have to start somewhere!

Sound effects are pretty satisfying, also mechanics are good. I would suggest to use a coherent art style (zombies are very different from the player).

Developer

Thanks for the reply and I agree a 100% on the coherent art style suggestion.  This being my first game jam and a little rushed to get everything somewhat playable I just went with some random assets i found and focused more on the code then on the appearance but in future jams I'll definitely focus on art style more.  Thanks for the reply.
