  • A turn-based dating sim is not something I expected going into this contest, but here we are. The story and character interactions are very well written, though there are a lot of errors. I feel like there's a cool concept in here somewhere, especially with the intrigue laced in, but I think it still needs more to it. The game feels incomplete, not just because not all options are available, but I'd like to know more before being thrown into a turn limit and only one chance to talk to each person without knowing who to pick or what to say to sway them.
  • Sweet Flavour is a cute and wholesome Visual Novel made with the engine. The objective is raising affection with any of the main girls to marry them after 10 turns by talking to them. It's a pretty simple premise, but it does deliver it. Also this game don't use any soort of plugin, proving that a game like this can be perfectly made without scripting knowledge. While it is incomplete due to time constraints, what's shown is more than enough to judge it. The dialogue is neat and made me personally root for the people within the story even if it's just the epilogue of some great journey I've never been part of, but wished I was. Only there's a few drawbacks is the lack of interaction overall (which is understandable given the game mechanic) and very ambiguous choices for raising affection, which makes a little harder to aim for specific endings. Again, it's no trouble because the game can be cleared in few minutes. Would recommend.
  • To preface, I have never played a dating sim in my life. But I liked this submission a lot. The writing was cheesy but it was also really solid for what it was trying to do. Definitely felt like I wasn't playing a fan-made game at times. And it was the perfect length. I did think it was kinda weird that there was an option to date my little sister but I didn't go for it of course. I guess I'll just chalk that up to anime logic. I don't have much else to say. Great job.

Any information the judges should know?
Had to rush for a bit, but should be playable and fun ^^
Just noticed the last choice isn't edited, so here are the choice that work :
-Vanilla
-Citron
-Don't pick anyone
V2 prevents you from selecting endings that aren't written yet, no other addition

Hey now, they told you not to make Fire Emblem, and you make a dating sim? That's just Fire Emblem!

I'm joking, haha, this is a cute idea. I like that you had multiple portraits for all the characters, did you edit them yourself? Or is there a pack somewhere with facial expressions? There were some cute bits of dialog, too, and I liked the themed names of the girls.

I was a bit surprised you could only talk to every character once. I'm not sure why you get so many turns since you only need 5 or 6 turns to talk to everyone. It'd be nice if you could talk to a character multiple times, or you had to do little side missions where a character asks you to talk to another character to progress their story... Of course, that'd be pretty ambitious to get working in a game jam SRPG project.

Nice job!

I've put the link for the website I got the facial expression from on the game page, it's from Yumemishi, she edited a dozen of the official faces, and they're pretty good (especially like her yandere faces^^).

You're right for the talking and number of turns, I planned to do 2 talks option for each girl, and the number of turns was there to force the player to really choose who he's talking to ^^

I will edit the game with all routes after the jam is over, and I was thinking of adding some places you could check / items to give as well. I just got working on it a bit late honestly, but I'm glad you enjoyed it^^
