  • I think I did pretty much everything I could do in this submission. I beat the gym and encountered Zekrom. Not sure if there was anything else. This is a super cool submission but as the creator himself says it's super buggy. There's also a lot of standard Pokemon features that seem to be missing. But still, I'm certain a ton of work was put into this and it's just wild to see Pokemon in this engine.
  • SRPG Studio's Pokémon is the original rendition of the ultra popular franchise. In this game, you are a pokémon trainer. Surprisingly enough, it does feel like the games from Nintendo, although it's not completely perfect, but there's some peculiarities that makes it unique compared to the regular games. As classic from pokémon, at the start you are prompt to choose one of the 3 starter pokémons: Grass type, Fire type and Water type. While your goal is pretty railroad compared to the main games, you have some degree of liberty to catch any other pokémon to bolster your army, following the same rules as the game: Step on grass, wait for random encounter, hurt the pokémon enough to throw a pokéball and capture it. And lastly, go to the gym leader and win against him. The game however has some technical issues. Sometimes in battle the game may crash for no reason (fortunately saving is free and you can save pretty much anywhere on the map). A few transition backgrounds changes on the middle of the fight and lastly, the pokémon center can only be activated once (and there's no ending after the gym battle apparently). Despite the drawbacks, the game truly captures the essence of pokémon on its pokéball even while having a few technical problems. Would recommend.
  • I'm very conflicted on this because it's a decent recreation of a Pokemon game, but the execution is a mess. The bugs and balance made it hard to get an idea of what sort of intent was behind the style of adventure that was presented beyond showcasing the ability to recreate another game in the engine. It needs work before I can be impressed.

Any information the judges should know?

This is a cool idea, and you clearly put in a ton of effort, but it seems quite unstable to me. I tried playing this game 3 times, but never could get much further than the first two trainers, since the game crashed or froze, usually after a fight with a wild Pokémon.
