Dog People are different but still we are people: Prone to lapses in attention, gratitude and awareness. "Have I Been Good?" can help reestablish these conditions between you and your dog. Circumstances currently do not allow me to live with a tailwagging companion but while reading through the rules - or rather instructions for casting a spell - I returned to memories. Karl was old when we picked him up from the shelter in July that year. The vet said we would be lucky if he made it to Christmas. He was a big dog with scars, bodily and mental, he had lost a lot of weight and his skin was sagging from his frame. It took a while but he came around, being fed a good diet, exercising and meeting new people. We lived through ups and downs, played a lot of games and went to many places together. Four Years later, he decided to rest.
I cannot cast the spell right now, as I am bare. But it allowed me to reminisce about a time when I was not.
Thank you so much for making this! It gives me hope that there are people who will put aside the mundane everydayness of it all and purposefully reconnect with their dog - giving their time, attention and gratitude to someone whose life consists of doing that every day for them.
This is my first experience with an epistolary game and oh my goodness was it fun. My friend and I have spent the past two evenings writing on notebook paper back and forth until our wrists feel like they are going to fall off. We got so invested in the characters, and it was so much fun to create a story together in such an interesting collaborative way. Thanks for the amazing introduction to this type of game. I can't wait to dive into more (or replay this one)!
