I chose Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you." I went back and read Ephesians 4 and found Ephesians 4:1 as the inspiration for the title of my game.  Ephesians 1-3 is about who we are in Christ, what our character is.  Ephesians 4-6 is about how we should behave and what we do as believers.

I think I will create a vertically scrolling game where various objects/images and words will scroll down from a slower speed to a faster speed that represent (being kind, tender-hearted, and forgiving), along with objects/images and words that do not represent those 3 words. If the player chooses correctly, then more points will be gained and if they guess incorrectly points will be lost.  Kind of like training to select the good things which become a habit and can even change your mind, mood, and feelings.  At the end you will get to redeem those points for a special event/surprise that I won't quite reveal yet.  Still praying, thinking, and designing.

There was a typing game that I used to play many years ago that did something similar. Words fell from top to bottom of the screen and you had to type them faster and faster. It was a simple concept, but I played it a lot. Space Invader is another top down game that got my lunch money many times. Sounds like a very good game mechanics to me Irma. I am looking forward to playing it.

last year there was one typing game too, which actually won the whole competition. But basically it was based upon type words fast enough, although there was lot of stuff making it so you didnt actually realise that it was simply a "type fast enough"-game.

I like that little twist in which some of the words you are not supposed to type, this gives this concept a bit more challenge making it slightly more interesting.

Sounds interesting, Irma! Looking forward to seeing how it's executed!

Thank you for all the replies.  It has been a long crazy week and I wish I had had the time earlier to sit for a sustained long amount of time to finish the document but that's how life goes sometimes. I was thinking about it at various times throughout the days. Here is a google doc link to the design document. It is pretty much finished with updates and screen shots coming as I code and create art work.  https://drive.google.com/open?id=1AYc4IgRfGpXud_TMbtWp3CbCwuKav36a

I hope it makes sense and does justice to our Christian walk and to Ephesians 4:32 (the verse I chose).  I want to encourage all to continue praying for each other, do what the Lord leads you to do, have fun, and just do your very best no matter the outcome!

Blessings!!!

Great document! I like how organized and specific it is! Blessings to you as you continue developing!

The great thing about typing games is that they can easily be extended to help kids learn and practice typing. Looking forward to how this turns out as my son is starting to learn.

Today, I am looking for various graphics, music clips, and sound effects for my asset list.  I am using freesound. org and common license.  Do you all have any recommendations for sites to use?

opengameart.org is a great resource to use no matter your game engine.

I will not be able to finish and submit the game.  I have a major emergency that has come up with my mom and so I am sending this message right now while I have some time. I may not even be able to be online during the next few days.
