Building a dungeon layout from the title+author is nice, and I enjoy the feel of generating an encounter and playing through the combat, too. However, either I was incomparably lucky, or the game's balance is a bit off.
I played a mage, and was quickly awash in magic and healing potions, spare cloaks, etc. It was enough that I was guaranteed to be able to fireball my way through a few encounters, no matter what they were, so there was no actual risk, and it would have taken an extraordinary string of bad luck with loot not to be able to replenish that over the course of a few encounters.
So--it was fun while I was playing, but after ten encounters, I was beginning to feel like I was just going through the motions of getting a new random monster, killing it, and doing it again, so I stopped while I was still enjoying it. A few more rooms of throwing away a few useless weapons and occasionally chugging a potion to make room to pick up another potion, and I would probably have ended on a sour note, instead.
Overall, a fun, quick experience, with a lot of potential to hack it to suit your desired level of challenge and goals.
