How important is sound?

I know the jam ends in 2 hours, but I just thought of this. My game simulates a phone application, so I completely skipped over sound. How much do you think it will affect my game? https://derewah.itch.io/twister

You will decide by preference, but sometimes sound can make a game be more inmersive

It will have a big impact on what the game feels like to play, and on your ratings, but you can still submit it without it. I'd recommend finding a fitting public domain music track at least if you don't have to add sound effects. If you want to know where to look for them, there's freesound.org and opengamart.org. When looking for stuff, check the "CC0" or "Creative Commons 0" box. It's of course nice to credit what ever music or SFX you use, but you're not forced to.

thing is, my game simulates a phone app. **you don't expect button sounds** when clicking buttons on twitter/instagram

I see. I would still add at least music though, but with the option to mute it. People do listen to music on their phones, too. ;)

depends on the game

Looking at your game, I don't think it can make much difference, just the sound of a notification but nothing else, I don't see it as bad.

I have added some small notification sound *just* to be covered in that area haha. Now that you make me think of it, it's a nice addition
