This was a nice twist to the classic RPG. The theme is applied perfectly. I found it a little too repetitive and grindy though so I didn't finish it yet, I may come to complete it later. Good job!

Hey. I recorded a video about the Beginners Circle jam and included your game in it. If you want to cut your game out of the video, let me know. However, if you like the video, I make similar videos every day. I will be happy if you subscribe. Anyway, I enjoyed playing your game.

Good story, well adjusted to the theme. Never expected it to be that long, especially for a game jam. Though partly it's that long because the nature of RPGMaker games is always slightly grindy.

Things I've noticed:

0. It's good that you added descriptions to many background items. Although in the end many items had same description, like food in the noble's house or skeletons in the southern dungeon, that was slightly boring.

1. Typo 'espcae' instead of 'escape'

2. Initial tutorial fight is broken. After he tells you to use a magic attack, all other things are locked. After three attacks you run out of mana and just can't do anything anymore.

3. Choosing 'optimize' equipment initially gives you shield, however the character just tells you that he doesn't have a shield because he has no money

4. It seems that candies are little bit broken in boss fights. When I was eating hard candy in elast boss fight, it seems that it worked like the boss was eating it, it gave him paralysis and healed his hp. Took me some time to understand that 'using' is in fact supposed to be eating and it's just bugged, and I should use 'magic' feeding instead. Also in a fight with rocky and stinky you choose to feed the candy to one of them, however both are fed at once.

5. Timer in collapsing ruins combined with monster encounters. It still runs in battles. So I'd suggest just stopping the timer for the monster encounters or disable encounters completely (because why would anybody engage in fight while running from the falling roof?)

6. 'Search the house before leaving' is a little bit annoying, I searched many items several times before I understood what's wrong. I wasn't aware that the journal cabinet is in fact having two different entries for two different cells it occupies, and you should read both of them. Maybe you should add the 'shining star' thingy which marks important items.

7. Sometimes 'Ramen' is mentioned as 'Romeo'.

8. Is the sign post on the southern island supposed to have no text?

9. The ending says 'hidden ending - the journey still awaits'. Are there other endings? The plot looked pretty linear with no choices, so I'm a little bit confused.

Thank you for playing! ....I did not expect that someone will finish the whole game, though. It is quite lengthy.

0. It was... well, a copy and paste for the final dungeon and noble's house. I screwed up and I know that - I want to make it like witcher's house but I run out of time.

1. That is... my mistake, but I believe that I should not do any modification now.

2. I locked them. Um... I think it should be possible to slain the teacher within 1 round or so???  I will lower his stats even further. Just tried and it is a little buggy, sometimes it still allow users to use magical attacks other than "feeding candies".

3. My mistake, probably, thanks!

4. Yeah  I know. That was the major reason for the tutorial. I can do nothing but leave it like that because I am not going to use any plugins - RPG Maker MV is not a strong engine, after all. If I have to solve all these problems I have to make good use of plugins... and that is not what this game jam is for.

5. Oh, I did that on purpose. Otherwise it will be too easy for the players to escape. They were there to stop you from getting away.

6. In fact that also bother me somehow. I love games that require you to search here and there and find secret items for the next level. Adding a star will make things easier for the player, but I doubt and removed all signs. Thinking like this: "who would like to have direction guidance in dark souls? " That is the main reason that I did not even put a sign there.

7. My fault! Thanks!

8. Hidden ending simply means that you have done all the things required. There ARE 2 more endings: Bad ending and Good ending. Run to the ruins and kill the first boss without accepting quest, then you get the bad ending (to punish those who just want to 'end' the game as soon as possible). Leave the big town without visiting Miss Candy again, then you get the good ending (to punish those who does not search).

Congrats on submitting the game!

I gave it a try after that other time. When I encountered the blue enemy inside the castle, all my and their attacks did 0 damage, is that expected?

I like the combat music and the clean texts. Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Yes, that is expected. The "Elast" has very high defence - as stated when you entered the dungeon for the first time (and they have the lowest attack). Only way to kill it (in early game) is through giving it a candy. I designed it to be like this - other wise people just go killing all enemies without using the function "feeding candies". It is also a practice for the players - fighting without using candies WILL NOT WORK here.

Another reason for this is to make them an obstacle when you want to escape from the ruins: they will not do any damage to you, but they are here to stop you.

Thanks again for playing!
