Does the 1 year gamedev rule apply to this scenario?

In the rules, you say you have to have been a game developer for under 1 year. I have used Pico-8 before. I have tried making a game in it (and failed miserably) probably about a year ago. That was just a fun test of the software. But I have recently been getting more interested in the game development process and about a week ago, I decided to download Godot myself. So, technically I have been a “game developer” for a while, even though all I made was some basic player movement, and I’ve never really made a full game. I haven’t really thought of those projects as games until now, reading through the rules again. Does the rule not count for those or can I not submit a game?

One year of experience is just one year of making game. So if you quit at some point and start to make game later, the sum of the time you spent doing that (not counting the gap) will be counted for example.

We don't want to be to strict, as we want to create a chance for as many people as possible to have fun working on their games. So as long as you still consider yourself as beginner, then you're welcome to join! 👍
