Track description | Creative process
SMB-SUBT4X.wav is the correct wav, not the one here but on the project page (jam #2 got accidentally submitted so that only the soundcloud link is correct on this page)

Performed manually on a Roland FA-08 and then some stretching and compression to get evenly-spaced tempo in Mixcraft 10.5 Pro Studio.

The conception of just when this remake is occurring is something like this: a version of SMB 1 which uses the Lost Levels is needing music in late 1987 or early 1988 so that it's plausible that it has a little bit more complex music than back in 1985. In other words its like a Lost Levels that is released a few months before the Super Mario Bros 2. that was the Doki Doki Panic conversion (Super Mario Bros USA in Japan).

The submission is a little messed up the zip file is the wrong wav file but the SoundCloud link can still be used to accurately hear the submission, and i also posted it in the Discord (3PM 08/26/2024)

Interesting track with some good harmonic ideas. Cool!

Love the quotes to the original theme. Cool track. Interesting rhythm and harmonies that almost remind me of prog rock. Nice work!

Considering the track is for a 2d platformer I think a steady tempo would work better, especially when you want to use a lot of different melodic cells, a more squared frame can help to make it work.

Funny how you mashed up the Mario Theme, interesting harmonic changes as well ! I feel like this could belong in Undertale in some way, had a funny and goofy feeling to it that I liked !

Good reimagining of the original Mario themes, the mix makes everything a bit too distant and flat, but the energy of your track is still there. Good job!

so to reiterate, technically the SC link is the right file but the wav is still animal crossing from last time

in a backhand way its still possible to rate it but i would get points off for mostly messing up i guess

oh well

the soundcloud link is right but everything else is wrong, im not sure if that can be rated that way
