- (Review of the post-7DRL version.) The game is really pretty, although I wish it had some SFX. The fractal map structure remains largely unique to this creator: sadly, it has little practical effect in the current version besides making much of movement from point A to Point B take longer, as the current enemy roster is not sufficiently varied to make the terrain matter, and same goes for your combat capabilities. Even though this is a spellcaster roguelike, the combat is still very straightforward, and once you learn which flowers require 2 Blazes, which burn out in 1, and which can be meleed instantly once they jump in range, the challenge mainly comes from the UI. The way the game depicts HP/MP on the bottom left, right underneath where enemy names are, makes it easy to confuse player's stats with the enemy's and vice versa. Moreover, the lack of inactive UI area next to spell buttons means that if you do not cast them from shortcuts, it's easy to misclick onto a faraway tile instead: which can lead to one moving in that direction and getting hit repeatedly in combat. Lastly, one balancing flaw are the random drop rates of Life and Mana Potions. Getting too many Life Potion drops in a row can leave the player unable to cast right as another Vivianth approaches with a small army. Altogether, it's a fun and colorful experiment that retains significant room for improvement!
