Featuring aesthetics, gameplay, or themes reminiscent of classic video games. Often characterized by pixel art, chiptune music, or mechanics popularized in earlier gaming eras.

Near infinitely replayable games that usually feature, random generation, perma-death, and brutal difficulty.
