To everyone who has followed me,
Thankyou. It means a lot.
It's not hundreds, but we have to start somewhere, and I appreciate you all.
All of the game design work I've released so far has been on a tri-fold, and my tri-fold manifesto is my most downloaded piece of work. However, I'm thinking of doing a couple of more extensive project over the next couple of months. There will still be a tri-fold game (or two) every month, but I've got a couple of ideas that just won't fit into a tri-fold. So I'll be working on a couple of self-contained game 'zines between now and the end of the year. 16 pages generally broken down as
- a title page,
- contents and credits and intro
- 2 pages of setting and atmosphere
- 2 pages of character generation
- 2 pages of how the game works
- 2 pages focusing on something specific about the game (a combat system, a magic system, a trade system, specific SRD related stuff)
- 2 pages of Narrator/GM information
- 2 pages of story ideas
- Back two pages as a character sheet and quick cheat sheet of the game rules.
It's nowhere near the size and scope of a full gaming book like you might find published by one of the established gaming companies, but it's a pretty sizeable step up from the tri-folds I've been producing so far. I've been doing heaps of research from the various folks who've published stuff about how to make and bind 'zines (like this one by nauma, and this one by spines). I'll also be helping with some work on the next couple of projects from Vulpinoid Studios, but I've been doing that for a couple of years now anyway... hopefully one of those projects should be released soon.
