This week, I focused on researching grappling hook mechanics by playing a variety of games on itch.io. I noticed that most of the grappling hook-based games are designed with a first-person perspective, rather than third-person. After testing several of them, it became clear that first-person control tends to feel more intuitive and responsive for this type of mechanic.
In my current build, I’ve implemented a basic grappling hook system in a third-person view. However, I’ve found that controlling the character with the grappling hook in third-person feels awkward and difficult to fine-tune. Because of this, I’m planning to switch the game to a first-person perspective by next week to improve the overall feel and maybe add some more control over grappling hook since It just pulls you to the place that you place the hook.
