New Game in Development – And I Need Your Input!

Some of you might’ve already noticed a new game mode has popped up, only accessible once you’ve unlocked the motorcycle. That was no accident. I added it for testing purposes, because… I’m working on a brand-new game!

It’s heavily inspired by the Genesis version of Super Hang-On, especially its Original Mode. Just like in that mode, you'll face a series of rivals across multiple races. But this time, there’s more: after every five-race championship on a single track, you’ll be able to advance to a higher class with faster opponents and better sponsors... if you're good enough!

And ofcourse, there will be a classic arcade mode and a "Against the Music" mode!

🎵 I’m in touch with Benjamin Shielden, and let’s just say… the soundtrack is in good hands.

🎨 I’m still looking for a sprite artist to help define the look and feel of the game. And speaking of that...

What should the title be?

I've been wondering where the name Hang-On originally came from. It’s likely a playful reference to the racing technique “hanging off”, where riders shift their body into the turn for better control, a signature move in motorcycle racing.

At the same time, it works as a call to action for the player: Hang on! because things are about to get fast.
So when it came to naming my new game, I wanted to play with that same idea.

Here are three names I'm considering. Which one do you prefer?

  • Hangin' Off!

  • Ultra Hang-Off

  • Turbo Hang-Off

Let me know in the comments below! 👇

And one more thing…

I’d love your thoughts on the visual style too. Should I go with:

  • the classic 16-color sprites, like those in OutRun, Turbo OutRun, or Super Hang-On?

  • or something more detailed and semi-realistic, like the style of OutRunners?

Your input means a lot—thanks for being part of the ride!

More updates soon,
— Yves (a.k.a. Sk1ds)

i'm Big fan of  Turbo OutRun Reimagined

but there I am even more seriously impressed!! Your work is incredible.

better interresting like detailed and semi-realistic (outrunners) , the demo i just see is crazy !!

I like Turbo Hang-Off, because it keeps the same naming convention that you have with Turbo OutRun Reimagined.  Also, I'd love it if you included a structure similar to OutRun's where you race through a variety of different locales in a branching fashion, but that would definitely be outside the scope of the game :)

I get the naming convention. But what if Turbo OutRun Reimagined didn't exist?
Yeah, the branching paths... You're probably right. xD

Sorry, forgot to say, about the graphical style, my preference is OutRunners style, all the way!

NICE ideas, but why not combining it with your first game ?

(+1)

Because I can't sell the first one. 😆 The first one is going to stay Turbo OutRun Reimagined with its own assets, music, ... And it's actually my sandbox to test out new ideas.

This new game is going to have its own style, music, ... And it's going to be more focussed and polished. That way I can actually sell it.

Ah,okay

Good luck :)

edit.

btw, are you still going to develop and improve Turbo outrun reimagined further?

Eventually. In fact, I'm developing the new game inside TOI. So all needed improvements for the new game will also be applied to TOI. If the new game is finished, I'm going to remove anything TOI-related from that game. Meanwhile there won't be any new content soon I'm afraid. But if the new game is finished, I'm going to add new stuff.

Anyhow, do you have a preference for the name of the new game? ^^,

OKAy then, here are some imo catchy titles for the new Bike-based racer : "Nitro Drift ,Turbo Rush,Adrenaline Alley,Street Sprint and extreme Velocity".

btw. I like A/A THE MOST ;)  Andrenaline Alley
