Here is an update on the progress I am making with designing A Feast For The Fey, a solo journalling cooking adventure.
The playtest finished at the beginning of the year and I received some really good and useful feedback from my playtesters. I am incredibly grateful to them for giving their time to test the game and provide thoughtful and considered feedback. I also feel very honoured to have received some really positive praise for the game!
I am now in the depths of iterating the gameplay and content along with exploring the final visual design and layout of the book. I have been streamlining the game flow, refining rules and adding lots of new content to the book which is currently at 268 pages! I imagine there may be more before we are through.
As well as improving on the rules and flow of the game I have been exploring content which will provide players with the flexibility to play the game to whatever level of depth they prefer. Do you want to focus on resource management with a few notes on what happens narratively? Then you can do that. Do you like to bring all the details of the world to life? Then there are tables to let you do that too. I have been adding lots of encounters, oracles and many secrets to uncover all full of whimsical fey charm.
My wonderful illustrator Bryony Devitt has also been hard at work! As well as finishing the art for the cover of the book she has created a series of spot illustrations and decorative elements to be used throughout. A sneak peek of which is included in the image with this update.
I’ve learnt a lot through this game design process and I can’t wait to share the final game with you!
If you would like to be updated when the game goes live then give me a follow.
