A Feast For The Fae Development Update Nov 2025

First off, apologies for the lack of updates for the last few months. I have been very busy squirrelling away working on A Feast For The Fae, a solo journalling cooking adventure! A lot has been iterated and added to the game which is now up to an amazing 236 pages!

Here’s a run down of what’s been going on:

  • After rounds of playtesting the rules of the game have been iterated, streamlined and changed into what I believe is a better flow. Although playtesting feedback was overall very positive, there were a few areas that could be improved in the game. I’ve thrown out some things that weren’t fun and simplified some other areas to make the gameplay easier to follow. Hopefully this all improves the experience for players and makes for a good experience.
  • Content, content and more content. I’ve added so much more content to the game to provide everything a player will need all in one book! It’s got everything for creating fae characters, lots of encounters, many secrets to uncover and extra tables for bringing everything to life.
  • Design and layout is done. Phew. This has taken up the bulk of my time, it’s amazing how long it takes to do the design and layout, but with 236 pages it is a lot of work. It is finally finished though and I am really happy with how it has turned out.
  • Bryony Devitt, the amazing illustrator creating all the art for the game has been busy working on the remaining pieces of art needed. I’ve had some sneak peeks of the bits she is working on and they are looking great, it’s been amazing to see her art really bring elements of the game to life.

What’s next?

  • Final playtest: The final version of the game needs one last playtest to check the rules are all clear, the maths definitely works and the layout allows for a good game play experience. I imagine there will be some iterations after this, hopefully only small ones though.
  • Proofing: Once all content is finalised then it needs to go through proof reading to find any last typos and make sure the content can be easily understood.
  • Last bits of art: There are some final bits of art to be done now the layout is complete.
  • Funding the game: Even though the game will be fully complete, I am looking into options for running a crowd funding campaign to fund the actual printing of the book. As part of this I am also looking into other items I might be able to offer alongside it, such as stickers for items your character can purchase in the game, or a journal. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see offered that relates to the game.

All in all just to say that there has been so much work happening and we are so close to having everything done. I cannot wait to finally send it to print and share it with you all!

Thanks everyone,

Jane
