Hello Defenders!
I'm dropping in an early blog post this week because I'll be busy over the weekend with stuff, stuff, and more stuff.
Not wanting to miss my rhythm, I wanted to take some time today to drop a progress update, along with some behind-the-scenes project decisions!
Development for Defenders of Dwaca has been going quite swimmingly. The GDD was completed a few months ago, and the prototype has been finished along with internal testing. I found the concept fun when playing it, and a few people felt that way as well, so I decided to go ahead and invest the rest of my budget into the game.
So, we've been going full steam ahead into final development, and a release date is fast approaching! (More on this in the coming weeks!)
Which is good news for me because I've already used most of my (very small) budget lol. I'm not technically skilled or artistically inclined, so most of my budget went into developers and animators (they are a very good team!). What money I could save, I saved by doing it myself—marketing (hey, this blog post is marketing, right?!) and AI art.
In fact, a lot of art in this game is using AI art. Some of you may have even noticed it! Since I have a very limited budget and practically no talent for drawing and art lol, I rely on AI renditions and then ask an animator to animate them.
Check out our work:
Awesome, isn't it? That's Ellie the deer taking her first steps!
Welp, that's all for now. Let's catch up again next week as we inch ever closer to release!
