Belated introduction ๐Ÿ‘‹ and mission statement ๐Ÿค”

So we're approaching the end of March, and I need a quick break from the current project, plus I've had something on my mind for a while, so I'm going to take this opportunity to reach out to you wonderful people with this thing right here. Hey there ๐Ÿ‘‹

Having dabbled in various aspects of game dev from about 2017 (I think...๐Ÿค”), I finally released my first game (such as it is) in 2021. This was followed by a few short FPSs made in EFPSE in late 2022.

In 2023 I went hard, entering as many game jams as I could, and building upon what I'd learned in additional projects. Between those and the day job, last year was as exhausting as it was informative. I produced a lot of jank, but it's useful jank, and working out why it's jank and how to un-jank it has been an invaluable learning aid.

This year I'm taking my foot off the gas, a bit. Kind of. There are some game jams I'm keeping an eye on, but the major focus this time is going to be on polished experiences. And, ideally, original games that feel complete enough to charge up front for ๐Ÿ‘ (I have one of those up already, more on that shortly...)

If you've followed me for a while (or if you're new and you've taken a single look at my page, to be fair), you will have noticed my output's pretty eclectic - I started last year strong with an NSFW platformer and its FPS spin-off, before following those up with retro horror bordering on high-art by comparison. These set the tone for my output for the rest of the year, and I've picked up followers on the strengths of both, which has me curious:

  • How much overlap is there between people who followed me for the horror/"serious" FPS stuff and those who followed for the NSFW content? ๐Ÿค”

I ask because I'd watched my follower count go up to around the 220 mark (very neat), but then start to fluctuate, to the extent that it hasn't progressed much further than that for a while now (less neat). I've been wondering how many of the people who'd dropped off did so because they were expecting one thing but got the impression I'd pivoted full-time to something else ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

To my current followers, whether you started following for the fangame projectssurvival horrorretro-styled FPSNSFW content or whatever else, be assured that moving forward I absolutely intend to make even more of all of the above, and then some...!

(And if you're not following yet, maybe give that button a click and watch this space, yeah... ๐Ÿ‘)

Right now I'm working on the Easter-themed update to my first commercial game (NSFW). The demo is good to go, I just need to finish the content for the full build. By the end of the month... ๐Ÿ˜…

This task complete, I'll have the wiggle room to get some other projects up and running:

And maybe figuring out what to do with my Patreon...!

In any case, welcome, stick around, and - borrowing SNES drunk's sign-off - I hope you have a great rest of your day! ๐Ÿ‘‹
