Devlog 2 - Production

Production on Lia's Library is going smoothly. As a team, we were able to meet up and keep a constant flow of conversation, which has helped with development a lot. The addition of Robin to the team was one that the team was able to handle pretty fluidly, and being able to divide our sound section between Valderk and Robin seems to have helped a lot, especially now that Val is able to focus on UX. I felt like I've been making good progress as the narrative designer of the team, as the dialogue that I have written for the 2ish levels that we have now hasn't been too much of an issue to write.

As I mentioned in the previous devlog, I created a character direction document that I have been referring to when I'm writing the dialogue in the levels,  and the structure of our levels has greatly benefitted from the documentation. The current structure in the dialogue of our levels is that the player character, Lia, talks to different NPCs in order to gain access to the clues for that level's mystery, with the player able to refer back to the clues they have to ultimately solve the mystery. I've worked with our Game Design and Level Design teams in order to figure out what those members want from the dialogue, as well as what clues/interactables need to be written. I basically get jot points from those members, and then the narrative is just the expansion of those points.

For NPCs that aren't critical to the level's mystery, I've also written a "generic blurb" document, that we can insert into our dialogue system, to further build on the atmosphere of our setting.

For next steps, I'm going to be going back and rewriting parts of our dialogue to be more in line with the feedback we received during the second round of playtesting, before refining some the dialogue for our second level. At the moment, I'm more focused on refinement, rather then starting to write the last level, as our game needs that more.

Here are some snippets of the dialogue I've written for each of the levels, as well as what the "generic blurb" document looks like:
