To start off with the project, the team and I had multiple meetings on where we wanted to take this project. We originally decided to do a 2D game last semester but made the decision to use Unreal to have a nice portfolio piece at the end. Unfortunately, we are down 1 member and possibly another member which we don't know yet so we are going back to 2D and using the Godot engine for it.
Since we are going back to 2D, I will be practicing how to create pixel art by using Asperite to help with Jack (other artist) with creating the enemies and the level environment. We lowered the scope for the art to make it a bit easier for us to work on. Lastly, I will be working more on the narrative aspect of the project such as a backstory of our character and how the enemies came to be. Overall, I think the project is off to a good start since we finally settled on what we want to do and I'm excited to get started on it :)

In my opinion, the re-scope is a smart idea. I've also been dabbling in Aesprite and its very intuitive with tons of tutorials online, making lots of simple assets/animations quick should be a smooth process. It's rough that you've lost 1-2 members, I hope that your team can continue to work around that and produce a fine project by the end of the semester.
