Dev Log 2 - Pitching a Game

After a week of discussion and deliberation, our team has come together, and we are ready to take a step forward in the field of the design challenge.

Our group's focus is centered on ethical and societal issues in AI ethics. Players take on the role of a logistics company manager overseeing a new robot task force. As tasks increase, players must upgrade the robots for efficient task completion. These upgrades grant robots more autonomy, simplifying the manager's job. However, maintaining robots and meeting task quotas are essential, as the company expects exemplary performance for the future of logistics warehousing.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, we have adopted a gameplay style similar to "Overcooked," immersing players in an increasingly hectic logistics environment. Players will need to guide robots in moving goods from conveyor belts to trucks, with a set number of tasks to complete each day, or the game ends. However, as the game progresses, players will not only need to manage the robots' fuel but also consider their stress levels. You'll have the option to upgrade the robots to enhance their autonomy.

Our team has divided tasks and anticipates the next team meeting to continue driving the game's development. Despite potential engine limitations that may lead to variations in the game's late-stage presentation, the game's content remains a standout highlight that should not be missed. This project is filled with challenges and innovation, and we believe it will spark engaging discussions about AI ethics and the work environment. Please stay tuned to our development blog for more information about the game's progress and further exploration of this important theme.

Hey Hejie! I like the game concept about controlling AI robots, especially in an overcooked setting (That game was suuuper stressful and I think you can convey the stress of AI quite simply through the gameplay). What I would consider is how you can make the robot feel like a robot and not a human with their stress levels. If the game's focus is on the ethics of AI work, maybe the player doesn't have to slow down if their stress levels are too high but if so, then the robot will go out of control. Great concept and I'm intrigued to see where this goes in the future!
