In our inaugural week of game development, we earnestly embarked on the pre-production phase, laying the groundwork for what lies ahead this semester. Guided by our master schedule, my primary role involved settling into the intricacies of Jira to streamline our workflow.
Initially, I faced a bit of confusion surrounding the concept of User Stories, but thanks to the collaborative effort of our team, we swiftly clarified any uncertainties. Jira received timely updates, and new to-do lists were promptly generated, ensuring our project management stayed well-organized.
A significant chunk of my week was devoted to crafting the art bible—a document pivotal for our creative direction. From establishing color palettes to defining shadow patterns and resolution settings, we left no aspect unattended. The process was expedited, benefiting from the groundwork laid in the previous semester, with reference images aiding our visualization of the final product.
Simultaneously, we convened for a crucial meeting to gauge our progress and ensure alignment with our established set-up. During this, I identified the necessity for a re-categorization in Jira, specifically in the epic section. Originally using roles as epics, a reorganization was promptly executed. However, post-meeting, it became apparent that further adjustments were needed for improved intuitive clarity. As such, our next plan involves refining the epic structure in tandem with the creation of user stories to ensure a more seamless workflow for the entire team. Week one set the stage for our journey, and we stand prepared to navigate the challenges that lie ahead.
