Something peaceful to share with you all. "Haiku Garden" invites you to spend a few minutes in a garden that changes with the time of day and the passing seasons, reading generative haikus, drawn from the work of Bashō, which reflect these temporal shifts racarter.itch.io/haiku-garden.
Key aspects of this project is that the game really does change with the time of day, and the seasons. It evidently has to use the user's local reference, and it inherently maps onto a conception of seasonal change one sees in the Northern hemisphere. Still, all the same, I'm pleased it works at all, given it pushes significantly past what the Bitsy engine can normally achieve! The poetry engine itself is also quite elaborated, with varied mechanisms to produce temporally and seasonally appropriate outputs, while also working within Bitsy's particular limitations.
A lot of tedious work was involved in making this one, and while it may only be seen by a small number of people - as is typical of a Bitsy release - I hope it is enjoyed all the same.
