The campaign for my new zine is underway!
"Quod Natura Non Dat" presents a thrilling one-shot adventure tailored for one to seven players and a Game Master (GM), ready to unfold over one or two engaging sessions. Nestled within a rich historical backdrop, this adventure boasts a streamlined rules system, ensuring swift and seamless gameplay. Furthermore, the adventure can seamlessly integrate into a larger campaign using a different setting and system, serving as an ideal origin story for the magic-user(s) within the party. OSR stats have been included with this in mind.
I started writing this adventure based on a local legend from my hometown, Salamanca, Spain, three years ago. Originally conceived as an entry for the Folklore Jam 2020. As you might have guessed, I didn't finish it on time... but it has evolved into the TTRPG content I have tested the most extensively before publishing. I sincerely hope this effort shines through!
I don't want to spoil anything to future players, but I can tell you that this legend encapsulates elements that couldn't be more fitting for a classic fantasy adventure: medieval students learning the arcane arts down in a crypt from a master who’s not exactly who they think.
I wanted it to shine visually, too. While I handled layout and some art, Łukasz's creative touch breathed life into it. I love his captivating cover art so much that I decided to unburden it from titles or credits.
I've tried to balance the different types of encounters and give the adventure a touch of randomness to allow the GM to run it multiple times without necessarily having to present the same challenges.
My goal is to fund a nice saddle-stitched limited print run of the zine, most likely utilizing Mixam. If you help me fund it, you will receive the digital zine at a discounted price and have the option to acquire a printed copy at the printing cost (plus shipping) once the campaign ends.
I hope it sounds intriguing enough to inspire your support for the campaign!
Cheers,
Chema
