Tokyo: A City Crawl for Yokai Hunters Society

If you are one of my patrons, you might have already seen that I finally published the first version of the live work-in-progress document, "Tokyo: A City Crawl for Yokai Hunters Society." As of now, it includes only an incomplete chronology and the first ward: Asakusa. Not much, but it's perfectly usable for a solid session and could even spark ideas for a few more.

I will be updating this document irregularly. While the idea of having a live document is to encourage me to work on the project more consistently and complete it in a reasonable time, I don’t want to push myself to publish something every week or month and end up rushing the process. I will simply add new pieces as soon as they are good enough to be used in a real session.

The final version will include an introduction to daily life, transportation, communications, and more, along with a detailed chronology focusing on events related to Tokyo. It will also feature a description of all 15 wards into which the city was divided during the Meiji Era. Each ward chapter will include about 8 to 10 places of interest, a map with additional sites that might be useful for the hunters, persons of interest or contacts, and tables of rumors and encounters related to shady activities in the area.

Given that it took me 6 pages to describe just the first ward, we might be looking at an almost 100-page zine—my biggest project so far. My plan is to publish it as a standalone supplement first, but it will also be part of a new edition of the game that will compile the core rules, with new art, optional rules, and examples of play, the Field Guide to Yokai, the scenario Yuki, and a new one I'm currently working on.

If this project sounds interesting, join the Patreon and help me get it done! All paid patrons will have access to this WIP document, and as usual, Fighters and Magic-Users will receive a digital copy of the final version.

Thanks for the support! Chema
