This week has been tough. Many members of the team, myself included, were fighting the urge to give up. We've been working on this game for about three months now and we're not satisfied with its progress. I've also been struggling with projectile replication. After getting the projectile to appear on the clients' worlds, I thought the next step would be pretty simple. I was very wrong. It even took me a while to find a complete tutorial on the process. All the others presented only part of the solution.
When it came to morale, I decided that I've come this far so I wasn't allowed to give up. I also left my original game for this one. It'd be a shame to leave a decent game idea for a better one, just to give up when things get difficult. As far as projectile replication goes, well It's not going too well. Having the clients' projectile replicate on the server is more than I ever would've guessed. There always seems to be something missing that one tutorial doesn't include, but the next does, leading me on a seemingly endless search. The most recent video I've found seems promising, so I guess the only thing I can do is keep going.
The image above is of my test for projectile replication. On the left side is the Server's world while the left is the Client's. On the Server side you might be able to see three small, red dots. Those are the arrow projectiles shot from that character. On the left I circled and color coded each projectile. There are three red ones and two orange ones. This goes to show that the Client can see the server's projectiles but not vise versa.
