The Final Stretch

Mehki Cannon 7/19/2023 Networking Co-Lead

This week my team and I started from a side project that one of the team members were working on during our capstone journey. The game was very similar to that of our original project. It was made along side a multiplayer FPS tutorial that we used to help start our game's connection. We spent a majority of the time replacing the default assets with our own. As well as migrating all the necessary functionality to its appropriate files.

By migrating to a new project, we opened the door to a lot of new bugs and errors. The shoot functionality stopped working for some time, the player's walk was messed up, the multiplayer connection was broken at one point, and the HUD was missing some elements.

To go about fixing these issues, we divvied up the tasks to those most suitable to complete them. Others were responsible for assisting anyone who were having trouble. In the end the guns stayed as guns instead of being converted to bows, since the bow didn't shoot and it messed with the player walk. The HUD was completely fixed and a "Return to Main Menu" option was added.  The multiplayer connection was broken due to the addition of the "BlackScreen" map and its widgets. Their existence wasn't properly convey to the overall build, causing map traversal issues.
