This week I dedicated myself to ensuring the final project was as best as I could make it by ensuring key assets were made and implemented. I also went through and dealt with as many bugs as possible to ensure that my previous work can still be seen in the final product.
Making assets has been a refreshing change of pace. Using skills I learned in high school to make both audio and visual assets that the game sorely needed in order to properly feel complete. First this week I spent a day experimenting with foley audio for things like trash and doors. To accomplish this I took the advice of a producer to put my microphone at home into a box lined with sound proofing. This method worked perfectly, I only wish I had done it sooner.
After the sounds were taken care of it came to my attention that we still needed a UI image of ice around the screen to indicate to the player the ghost was near. Luckily, a teammate of mine had photoshop on his laptop so I was able to put my years of digital design to use and throw together something that came out rather well.
I made these things. I love seeing something I made turn out well. It's why I want to be here. This isn't all either there was a lot of frustrating time spent dealing with bugs and problems with code and making smaller features or assets. Including the pictures on the spawner boxes or implementing the seesaw's code in the street level.
This is the end of this month. Graduation is coming. I can't wait to move on and find my success. A global shutdown and pandemic already stopped my plans once. What's the odds of that happening twice?
Maybe I should be more worried about that.
