Hey everybody,
We’re already a little deep into May but here’s all the stuff I did in April:
SuperTry’s devilish turn based roguelike, Haque is featured in the Türkiye & Syria Earthquake Relief Mega Bundle on itch.io! There are over 200 games and other projects in the bundle and all the money raised will be distributed through the Turkish Philanthropy Fund to charities that are active in the Turkish and Syrian region.
If you’re cool enough to read this newsletter, you probably already own Haque but this is a great way to help some folks and get your hands on some cool stuff. Check it out!
This month on the Patreon I took some time to polish and name GripSkate, I updated Below, Below, Below, I talked about some of the games I really liked from the SuperTry Grab Bag Jam (that post is unlocked now if you wanna read it!), and I started up What’s Up Wednesday again.
Back when I was making Project Maiden and Haque I wrote a blog every week of development to try and make sure I was doing something every week that was worth writing about. I called it What’s Up Wednesday. People liked it! Now it’s part of my Patreon.
This month I’m participating in the second Pursuing Pixels James Jam Game Gam, so if you want to help me make something cool, consider donating at GiveKevinMoney.com!
(I co-host Pretend Friends, a Space Kings actual play tabletop podcast, with my friends Hadley St. Clair, Bryan Shepherd, and Brian Townsend. I also edit the show!)
Episode 7, With an X is a big ol’ fight that ends in a little reveal about one of this season’s most mysterious characters. I always love doing big chaotic boss fights as longtime Pretend Friends listeners know. Brian Townsand steals the show with an incredible pun this episode.
Pretend Friends is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, basically whatever your favorite podcast catcher is, we’re there.
The Space Kings rulebook is available as a downloadable PDF at SpaceKings.space and as a hardcover, full color book at Book.SpaceKings.space.
(I co-host this podcast about Goosebumps books with my friends Chad Quandt and Paul Ritchey. I edit this one too!)
In Goosebuds Episode 148, we plunged into the multiverse in Give Yourself Goosebumps, Elevator to Nowhere. Chad and I fought for brain dominance but in the end, what good is an elevator if you don’t press any buttons?
In Goosebuds Episode 149, we read The Haunted Car with special guest PeanutButterGamer! This book is for sure about a car that is haunted and *so* evil. It was super cool to have Austin on the show and we were all amazed by his fortitude in the face of overwhelming R.L. Steinisms.
In April’s Camp Goosebuds we just kinda chilled out and talked about Paul’s MiSTer. I think I brought up Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber? I’ve been doing that a lot. That’s a good video game.
Goosebuds is also available on multiple podcast catchers if this is your first time hearing about it!
Houdi’s wisdom this month is that little changes add up. Sometimes you gotta do something difficult now so your future self has it a little easier. Keep looking ahead.
