Magic Part 4: Knowledge

Today, we're talking about Knowledge as a Force in the Redshift Universe.

Before I get into that, If you want to catch up, Here are the other parts of this series, which is part 4 of a 6 Part series talking about Magic.

Part 1: The Fundaments  https://itch.io/blog/512851/magic-part-1-fundaments
Part 2: Order https://itch.io/blog/515946/magic-part-2-order
Part 3: Life https://itch.io/blog/519514/magic-part-3-life

Knowledge is a large Force in the Universe, encompassing quite a few things, and doing a little of everything. It can boost intellect by granting bonuses on Intelligence Challenges, create balls of ice that can harm people, create mini-blizzards, distract foes, counter spells, discern the future, extinguish fires, purify water, and allow for telepathic communication at the speed of thought. It is also capable of countering any spell from any school or make people speak gibberish.

It's located in places with people and intelligent life as well as places of learning and debate. This makes it especially common in libraries, universities, and massive cities. However, it's been noticed to also be in places where there is the potential of intelligent life being there in the future, like planets with large quantities of water. It's unknown if it's the cause of intelligent life coming about, or if it is merely located there.

In the case of Knowledge becoming bastardized, it isn't always known when it happens, but it becomes a lust for knowledge at all costs, including ethics.

When combined with Life, it forms Intuition, the most primal form of intelligent life.

When combined with Change, it forms Invention. The desire to create.

When formed with Order, it becomes Law and Tradition. Forcing things to remain the same through Knowledge.

And when combined with Death, it becomes Genocide. Using knowledge and information to create Death on a massive scale.

A master of Knowledge is a truly difficult foe. They can shut down enemy mages, weaken armor of their enemies with their Blizzard and Ice Ball spells, use knowledge of the future to prepare for you, Distract people to prevent them from ever attacking, and use their increased knowledge to come up with Tactics to beat you. While not the strongest foe outright, their ability to befuddle, stall, and obfuscate makes them extremely tricky to take down. Brute force and direct confrontation is your best bet to beat them.

There are rumors of a Master of Knowledge being around in the Universe, collecting stories and legends.
