Tl;dr: I'm streaming the development of LORED on Twitch (right now, as of posting this!). Stage 3 is coming, and it shouldn't be too much longer!

Hey, y'all! It's been awhile since the last update to the game, and even longer since the last post here on Itch.
I've been living my regular life, playing games and showing up to work on time! I got an electric bike and started biking to work, that has been pretty awesome so far.

In order to accommodate the abilities of Stage 3 LOREDs, I had to add functionality in the code, and that led to re-writing the entire LORED class. Because so much interacts with the LORED class, I effectively re-wrote the whole game, except for small portions. My sensibilities for user interface have changed over time as well, so I've been re-creating UI elements. Most of the UI is cohesive and predictable!
But before I die, I need to finish this game. I've been tempted multiple times to create new games, but LORED has remained my primary focus. Every time I dip my toe in some other water, I come back with new ideas that I implement into the LORED code.
I decided to record my progress and upload it on YouTube! But then I remembered I'd have to edit that footage. Nah, never mind, I'm good! So, instead, I'm streaming on Twitch. If you want to watch, beware the spoilers found there! I will be streaming the development of the game up until the release of 3.0, so you'll see everything that's in store for you as a player.

LORED will also be coming to Steam! I will price it at $5. I will also make the downloadable version here $5. The desktop versions have a main menu, save management, many difficulty options, and may include some multiplayer functionality in the future--that concept is only a baby in my brain. First, I have to finish Stage 3.
As for the HTML version here on Itch, it will remain free, and it will also have access to Stage 3. The price you pay as a player for playing the HTML version is more bugs and vastly reduced performance. LORED is created using Godot 3.5, and as of that engine version, the game cannot gain access to the operating software's clipboard. What this means is that you cannot import saves. The ability to export saves remains working, though!

This is an exciting time for me! The remaining work load shrinks every day. When I finally upload it to Steam, I will literally throw a party for myself. Then, of course, when the bug reports start flying in, I'll lose my shit and start crying and shitting. But that won't last too long!
Thank y'all for playing the game and supporting me. Not that anyone asked, but I've received $325.50 in donations. Donations!!! That's so generous, and I'm so grateful to anyone who's donated anything.
I'm also very grateful to Stangmouse, who is the reason the LORED Discord exists, which is full of friendly and quirky people, ThePaperPilot for his knowledge and friendly and helpful attitude, and Ohtil for her Franziska von Karma-ness--all three have become like friends.

I didn't realize this game was still in development. I last played months and months ago.
So I guess that means I get to enjoy playing it again for stage 3!
Thank you for all of your hard work
If the web version is going to become a second-class citizen, does this mean you’ll be releasing native Mac and Linux versions for the downloadable version of the game? I’ll happily buy the game if you do.
Godot can export to both Linux and Mac OSX. There is a Mac laptop at work I could test the game on, but I'm not sure how I would test it on Linux.
Anyway, I believe that with the Itch launcher, you can run the desktop version on Linux.
