Devlog01 Preproduction

Pre/production for team treefrogs has been going very well. I'm confident in saying that we are mostly finished with the initial design of our game. Our semester has had an explosive start in terms of the production of features that were proposed in the GDD.  A feature that I was working on was the enemies in our game. For context our game Swampside is a 3D platformer and the enemies in the game we originally designed to patrol and area and attack the player when they had vision of them. The player would be able to jump on the head of the enemy to kill them

I took this design into engine and began production,  I finished the basic patrolling system and vision perception of the enemies. I then was going to code the attack behavior and death of enemies. Before I did this I was playing around with what had already been implemented, sorta taking a break and I was attempting to jump on the enemies head without the enemy death actually being implemented. I was struggling alot, the way the enemies moved in combination with the players ability to control the camera it was incredibly hard to precisely aim and land on the head of a humanoid enemy.

I took my concerns to the team and now we are in the process of finding a solution. At the moment we are considering a redesign of enemy deaths., however we will most likely implement the original design and try to find more answers to this problem through playtests.
