Hello There
This week Ive been working mostly on the Stats menu. Unfor for me. The Stats menu has been hanging over my head for the whole time Ive been working on the menu. Seeing how my menu works I dont use any of the system work of the normal in engine menu. I do this by using so many switches to do all my stuff that its beginning to look like a maze. I can link stuff to the lvl of the player so mostly isnt that hard of an issue right? Just link everything to every lvl I want (Max level will be 80. That is 10 levels per chapter). But that isnt all. Seeing that I dont have any system nic nac that maybe helps to do it instandly I got to draw it. Meaning I need to draw 80 different pieces of art for 80 differnet levels. Fun
But even so I still have to make the basic look for the menu before I can use it. But this easier said then done. At the one side I know what I want there to be but not what to do with the left over space. But Im getting ahead of myself. First of the stats (Thats the name). The list of the stats I got as of now are
-HP (Health Points) The amount you can be hit
-MP (Mask Points) The amount of points you got to do special attacks
-ATK (Attack) The higher the more damage you do with normal attacks
-DEF (Defense) The higher the less damage you take from normal
-MAG (Magic) The higher the more damage you do with magical attacks
-CVR (Clever) The higher the less damage you take from magical attacks
-SPD (Speed) If this stat is higher than the enemie than you move first
(Side note - I couldnt really find any good name for the Clever stat seeing that all the ones I found were like “M.DEF (Magic Defense) or SDF (Special defense) and I was looking for something shorter. So thats why its called the Clever stat)
SO I got that yea cool but what next? The screen was not at all full. Sure I forgot to add the level counter which……. fair but because of that Im not to sure what I was missing. Now I was thinking of letting you choose where you begin the battle. Now I didnt really look the most to how many tiles the battle system would get. Now I know that its gonna be a 5 by 5 for you and your enemie. But with that I drew it in the lil space I had left but that space was a lil to small and it made it look a but full. But because I now kinda want that to be a thing you can customize I want that to be a thing. BUT I dont know where to place it. So I need to make a new button in the Core Button of the Main menu (Yay more work). Ill get there but here is what the Stats menu looks at the moment
Far from done but hehe. Maybe Ill add a lil window of the location where you are. I have done that a few times before but for the kind of game Im making it does make sence
Anyways because I want to add that option to let you choose where you start a battle I need to indeed make 1 more button. Seeing that I havent really shown how it would sorta look like I have drawn something up real quick to show ya
On your side of the board I want you to be able to choose where you stand. Sure some battles would probably force you on 1 space but most of the battles Ill be lose with
Now while testing the battle ground to see what amount of times I could make fid that would look good I also came across the TP bar in battle. I personaly have only played 1 game with that (That being Deltarune) so I dont really know how it works yet but Ill look into it. Just thought I let it known that Im also looking into battle systems here :3
And that would be it I think. Mostly getting stuck at the stat menu hehe. Next time Ill try to see it out. Cant promise that Ill draw all 80 next time but Ill try as many as I can. Also looking into that Battle location (name work in progres) button aswell. Thats all for now. Have a great day furthermore and Goodbye :3
