Another day another pair of locations.
First of the locations for today is the Moving Island.
A classic motif of nautical folklore. Right up their with Davy Jones.
To cover the many versions of "Island that is actually a beast" I added a d6 chart of options.
This location is also one of many which reference "The Flesh Pit",
which will be explained soon! Just not today.
Finally, the unique treasure of this location.
Inspired by the whale vomit prized for its use in perfumes.
I modified it to be a little more relevant to players in an Action Adventure Fantasy Game.

The next location is a classic theme from history and historical fantasy.
The Grass Sea. Basically a reference to the steppe lands that stretch from Ukraine to Korea.
A world from which many empires have risen and many have fallen.
And a world which has facilitated trade between far flung places.
From the Middle East to China.
Several fantasy works play on the trope of the vast grassland nomads.
A Song of Ice and Fire most notable I suppose.
My addition here was to really Fantasy-ify it.
It is now a literal sea you can sail a boat over.
And its edges are somehow everything in the universe.
The people of this sea are inspired by the post Genghis Khan Mongol Empire.
Once mighty and feared, but now just a fragmentary remnant.
I also incorporated a lot of the tropes of "Though Guy" Fantasy Species.
As a lot of those tropes are in reference to a very mythologized idea of the Mongols that a lot of westerners have.
They're a little bit Orks from WHF, a little bit The Klingons,
but most importantly they tame ride in boats pulled by flying lizards, and I just think that's fun.
This location is less a place and more a way to places.
A way through, as opposed to a final location.
I could imagine games where people make a base here, and have to deal with the Scythe Warriors.
Maybe a deal can be struck? Maybe you'll find the tome of their lost founder? Who knows!
Lastly, the herbivorous hyena is in reference to a mistake I made in the Basic Guide.
Hyenas and Dingoes were wrongly labelled as non-predatory animals.
I will have to fix that some day. I'll see.

I hope you've enjoyed these locations! Stay tuned for the next 26!
Regards,
