Weird Locations, part 26!

Back again with two more Weird Locations to explain.

First up is a mythic classic! The Afterlife!

Nearly every culture has some vague idea about an afterlife.

This too can be said about the default cultures of Companion's of Limitas.

I made sure that every culture had some afterlife myth that the players could incorporate into their characters.

Except the Deluvi, because I forgot... Either way.

I wanted to touch on many of the recurring themes from "Afterlife decent" myths.

Knowledge, warning, closure. Classic stuff. I also included guides for making an afterlife.

As COL has rules for making whole new societies.

It's a common motif that I hope I've done well!

Next up is the Waveless Sea. The inspiration for this one is a little odd.

When I was in high school I had a fascination with drawing isometric buildings submerged in shallow seas.

I just thought it looked cool. And that cool image remained with me all the way to this project.

It was also nice to have a "Water theme" location, as I have others for Air Earth & Fire.

Next up I added water people, because that made sense, and Gargoyles

because I read that anecdote about how it's only a true gargoyle if it's also a water spout.

So it also kinda makes sense. I think a lot of fantasy game designers read that too.

Water shooting gargoyles have become more common. Neat.

The effects of the central building were also visually inspired.

I've always liked fantasy art of swirling portal gate ways to far off lands.

It's kind of the vibe of this whole book to be honest.

So I added that. Lastly, the one really big wave.

I just thought it would be funny.

Hope you've enjoyed these locations, stay tuned for the next 30!

Regards,
