Developer Log #20: Luck Decided to Jump Me. In a Bad Way.

So... Not a good Friday, but we're back alive.

Greetings plebeians. I have returned after a week and still have not done too much to work on my game... Unless you count a few bug fixes for my skills.

However, that did bring multiple problems. Two things happened that impacted my work ethic for a bit.

First, the internet. It just decided to suddenly shut off randomly and was simply not working for a good few hours. I'm lucky to have gotten another new one that is about five times faster in terms of speed, but I'll figure everything out sooner or later.

Now, the internet... Yes. You're right. I could have worked on the game engine and the art. The main reason I could have used the internet for this is to search up how to do "blank" and save the project into GitHub. And of course, let's go over the second. Considering how much more serious it got, it mentally and physically broke me.

Long story short, I ended up losing all of my stuff from my laptop because I was essentially "experimenting" and "accidentally" wiped out my entire disk of storage and everything in the terminal control. The number of blue screens this laptop gave, which was bought off about 66% when it was already returned and used for some reason, is concerning.

Unfortunately, I have managed to get this laptop to somehow not even be able to self-repair the problem, and I attempted to solve it myself in another area with Wi-F, MIND YOU, there still was no wifi,  and ended up completely deleting everything in the face. Including drivers, Windows 11, etc.

Now I have the laptop back and have redownloaded everything. I have lost most of my art files on Slice of Them, but the one that really was a loss was the main menu art, which was about 3 hours in and wasn't saved into a backup. However, I did manage to get some part of it redrawn with a new Wi-Fi connection. Perhaps you can compare and contrast...

This one just feels... A lot cleaner. I do think that this one could be tweaked a little bit more to make it more fitting for a main menu...

And then the one I originally was working on was. It's not even a file; it was a screenshot. It just feels very blurry in general. But here's the original.

Ok now that I look at it from further away, this looks a bit more cleaner...

Ok, now that I look at it from further away, this looks a bit cleaner...

Yeah, so there's not much of a difference, but I guess the top looks a bit cleaner. Because again, the stuff outside is the stasis area, where enemies aren't allowed to even move as much. They still can, but the closer they get to the barrier, they stop moving. But well... For now, I'll draw the barrier and the outside much later.

But, on that other side...

Decided to add a lock on the skills. You can still view their first-level abilities, and I suppose I'll show the cluster sharpener first. I do find this object the most obnoxious, because of how dumb it feels, but I think I'll continue to go along with it.

I've also told myself to start making levels operational, but that's just becoming much more difficult.

And now... Since I have my freedom taken in approximately 5-6 days, I will note that this will become slower to update, and even with a deadline of November, I'm not even sure if I can finish this.

But... I do have an idea, and plan to at least release some kind of DEMO,  warranting at least about 5 strict minutes of gameplay.

Is it going to be free? On Steam? Or just be slapped onto some kind of flash-game website or something... I don't know anymore.

It's going to get tougher for me, but if it's fun, then it'll be for my good.
