Developer Log #17: Going to Need a "Fast" Break

Holy Jesus, it's this late and I'm writing a developer log... What great time management.

Ah, anyways. Hello! It's been another week, but I might seem to be early (It's currently 1 am). But, I do have a bit of good news. I kept my damn promise and worked on agility. So far, it just looks like a static image. But trust me, it's an auto scroller (And oh my goodness, i hate shader coding for Godot), and it's not so bad so far!

I'll note down a few things I have to note, along with a bit of future plans.

First of all, instead of being a static timer for each of these, I have so far planned to create 2 obstacles (The crate and crows) to be your dodging objects. By going over them or under them, you'll earn a combo point.

Additionally, I plan to add a very small object to collect to give +3 to your combo, just for a bit more challenge.

I'll also add, you have a double jump, and you already automatically run forward. However, by pressing forward or backward, you'll slowly run faster or back away slowly. Just like that one flash game, Rogue Souls. Wow, I came a long way by playing that game and literally making an almost similar parody...

I'll be honest, I have these combo points, but I unfortunately still have NO way of converting them to the XP points for your level progression, which is slightly reeeeeeeeally bad. However, I might begin this, because once I do this, implementing your skills and potions within battle should be slightly easy. However, let's get that out of the way...

Agility Progress

Agility Progress

Now, aside from this... There's a few things to unpack that may have to stop me from progressing in this game.

Mainly speaking, Game Jams!

Yeah, I signed up for about 3 game jams, listed in the following (YOU SHOULD DO EM TOO!):

Kenney, Melon, and GMTK

Honestly, doing 3 within a very short span of time is absolutely going to burn me out a little bit and possibly not let me work on the game as often. However, I do think if I can work with an effective team, I can build a good game and build up a good-looking portfolio, along with some  extra exp bonuses for my own learning opportunities.

It's going to be a pain in the ass, but everything will be easy if you do nothing, so do something.

... Man, I am so glad I never did any summer classes this year; that would have ruined my entire time to be able to work on my game or more of my future.

Anyways, how's your day goinggg?

If you'd like to keep track of more of my progress and further invest in my time or even try to chat with other smaller random gamers who want to make silly games, you can check out this Discord channel. You can support my growth, provide suggestions, and hopefully help me improve as a game developer entirely.  Or, you could follow me on Reddit and see what kind of kiddle questions and answers I give to others. Or, now you can track a bit of my progress on my Youtube channel. This is mainly going to include small videos, including some progress with my coding and uploads for my video-dev logs.

So, as of now, the discord channel is being gatekept due to a lack of helpers and testers to hopefully get the server working. However, I will do my best to get the server working as best as I can.

That being said, I'm glad if you read this far, and wish me more luck with my programming skills and game development skills even more. Gooood bye!
