I noticed that and maybe it's just me being stupid but when you free prisoners they become the active character and you can't switch back. This means you can't change out loot on your first character or swap loot between the two and if at a shop you can't buy things with the money other characters have, just the newest one. Not sure if I'm being dumb and there was a way that I didn't notice. But if there isn't there should be.
