[Spoilers] Unable to proceed in tower

I reached the start of the tower, whereby Niko is made to sleep, and pressing any button causes the game to close.

I saw the clue, and open up the file with a clover icon, but it does not advance the story in any way in the main game.

I am using the 64bits package, and launched the game from the itch.io launcher. I tried both clover app in the document folder as well as the one in the itch.io app folder.

Please help.

Are you launching the clover application and keeping it open while launching the game again?  Also, do you have a screenshot?

Yes, but nothing is happening from what I can tell.

Normally what's supposed to happen is once the clover app is running, you relaunch the game and then the game will proceed.

Are you launching either the game or the clover app as admin?  Can you try launching both as Admin (first the clover app, and then the game)

I can and did launch the clover app as admin, however launching oneshot.exe directly seems to do it differently from the launcher, as it acts like a fresh start.

So I can only start up the game via the launcher if I want to load the game properly, doesn't seem to have a way to start it as admin that way.

I figured it out, itch.io sandbox which I enabled under preferences is messing with the program.

I solved it by copying all files from <itch-player-AlphaNumbers>/Appdata/Roaming/Oneshot to <User>/Appdata/Roaming/Oneshot, and starting both the clover app and the game manually from the game folder in admin mode.
