After initializing the install process it finishes with an error could not install. I am running android 9 (pie)

From what I understand its asking to update the existing install of SC34 which it can't do.  You need to uninstall SC34 and reinstall it from the APK.  Make sure to backup your save game first before doing so.  I had the same issue with the previous version and it worked after I tried that.

Yeah, that's what Kryphon said. You need to install the previous version first. Don't worry it shouldn't affect your saves.
